Destined for Great Things
I recently reconnected with a friend from a long time ago. He is one of those monumental friends one has, you know the kind you can't ever forget. He is the first black friend I ever have had. And though we are similar we are in fact very different. Me; white, naive. He: black with African influences. As it is, we share a past--not exactly the same past but parts of it are similar though how we remember it are very different. I have always found it easy to love him without any threat of him loving me back, though I think he might have. My ideas of friendship are different--well, in my description one might share ideas and experiences without exclusion based on morality or religion or whatever. We shared back then and now that time has marched on and I am 'meeting' him again we are sharing again. I don't know if we will lose contact again... perhaps. He is still incredible, invincible, powerful and still moves me to think from the inside out. All very good qualities in a friend I think. And I thank him, again for being a friend to me.
